Kieran Wright Signs New Deal

RANGERS are today delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Kieran Wright has extended his contract at the club.

Wright, who has been training with the first team regularly for some time and has this season been a regular backup to the pool of first team goalkeepers, has signed a new deal with the club until 2021.

The youngster is capped at both under-17 and under-19 age groups for Scotland and has also been called up to the under-21 squad alongside five fellow Rangers players

Wright, who has been in the clubs Academy for more than 10 years, has enjoyed three loan spells already in his career to continue his development, playing first team football in a range of environments whilst at Gala Fairydean, Albion Rovers and Raith Rovers.

This season, Wright has featured for the Gers in their Tunnocks Caramel Wafer cup run, including a clean sheet against Wrexham’s first team at Ibrox, playing also in the Glasgow Cup and Rangers innovative European Games Programme.

Head of Academy Craig Mulholland said “I am delighted for Kieran that his contract has been extended at the club until 2021.

“It is a reward for the hard work he has undertaken, but also the dedication from our Goalkeeping staff Colin Stewart and Graeme Smith.

“They have not only pushed his development every day, but have contributed to an individual development plan which has challenged Kieran through exposure to first team training.

“They have also helped to carefully select loans for Kieran to play first team football, whilst at the same time playing his part in our own challenging ‘best v best’ games programme.

“We look forward to seeing Kieran develop for both Rangers and Scotland under-21s over the next 18 months.”
