FT: Arsenal 3-0 Rangers
A deserved victory for Arsenal and a timely reminder for Rangers of what is required at the top level as they prepare for their return to the Champions League.
86 min: Miller has a chance to earn a consolation for the visitors as he runs on to Davis' pass but he drags his shot well wide of the post. He'll be disappointed with that effort.
82 min: With the game comfortably over as a contest the atmosphere in the excellent Emirates stadium has taken a dip as players and supporters alike go through the motions in the dying minutes.
76 min: That goal has ended any lingering hopes Rangers might have had about changing the outcome of this match, and from here it looks like it will be an exercise in fitness for the home side as the Gers look to end the game strongly.
72 min: SUBSTITUTION - Arsenal
A huge roar for Tomas Rosicky as he replaces Fabregas
71 min: GOAL - Arsenal 3-0 Rangers
Jack Wilshere makes it 3-0 as he latches on to substitute Aaron Ramsey's cross and rifles the ball past McGregor. It's no less than the youngster's display deserves.
67 min: Bougherra breaks well down the right hand side but with Miller looking for the ball in the middle the Algerian chooses to cut back to Mendes, and his slide rule pass to Naismith is smothered by Almunia.
66 min: SUBSTITUTION - Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey replaces Fran Merida.
62 min: SUBSTITUTION - Arsenal
Arshavin and Eduardo are withdrawn with Bendtner and Watt taking their places.
60 min: Naismith misses a glorious chance to bring Rangers back in to the game. He started the move by releasing Davis down the right and with Song stranded on the half way line the two advanced on Almunia's goal. Davis returned the pass perfectly but Naismith could only fire at Almunia from 8 yards.
58 min: More good work down the right from Novo and Whittaker leaves the Spaniard to cross for Davis, who tries an ambitious flick with he heel that Almunia has no trouble dealing with.
55 min: Mendes hits the post with a header from Papac's cross, but as Stevie Naismith hammers home the rebound the flag is up for offside against Mendes. Looked a close call.
54 min: Some great footwork from Eduardo leaves Whittaker bamboozled but his floated cross is easily cleared by Weir.
50 min: Rangers offering a much greater threat now and when the ball spins over the top to Novo the Spaniard advances down the right and delivers a ball for the advancing Naismith that is diverted away by Almunia and as Davis aims to get in at the back post Song is there to smother the danger.
47 min: A decent start to the half for the visitors sees Davis break down the right but he's flagged offside as he looks to guide the ball across for Kenny Miller
46 min: SUBSTITUTION - Arsenal
Arsenal make two substitutions of their own with William Gallas and Gael Clichy making way for Armand Traore and Denilson.
46 min: SUBSTITUTION - Rangers
No surprise to see Walter Smith ringing the changes as he replaces Lafferty, Beasley and Thomson with Miller, Novo and McCulloch at the interval.
HT: Arsenal 2-0 Rangers
The hosts are thoroughly deserving of their lead at the half way point after a blistering start to the match.
45 min: Eduardo also has a chance to make it three as he skips in to the box, but McGregor does well to block the shot.
42 min: Wilshere comes close to adding a third to Arsenal's tally as he chips the ball over Thomson, then Mendes and floats an effort toward goal that forces McGregor in to a finger tip stop.
41 min: Mendes' delivery is punched on to the head of Beasley by Manuel Almunia and as it breaks to Bougherra, Merida does well to block the Algerian's back post attempt.
40 min: A poor free kick from Steven Davis after Naismith is fouled on the edge of the area by Silvestre. It deflects off the wall for a corner.
38 min: Under pressure from Gael Clichy, Whittaker loses the ball to the French full back deep in Rangers' half and is grateful to see the young Arsenal defender waste the opportunity to punish the mistake.
35 min: Beasley surrenders possession all too easily on the Rangers left and in stark contrast Arshavin ghosts past Steven Whittaker on the opposite flank before attempting an ambitious shot from a tight angle.
32 min: Merida lifts a dangerous ball toward Eduardo in the box but the Croatian striker is not quite on his toes and the chance is lost to the relief of the Gers' backline.
29 min: Merida tries his luck from 35 yards with a dipping left foot effort that McGregor watches comfortably as it slips a few yards wide of his upright.
27 min: Mendes' corner is easily dealt with again at the near post and Arsenal threaten to break again, as they have done so often already during this opening half hour.
26 min: Fine combination between Whittaker, Naismith and Mendes allows the Portuguese midfielder to whip in a cross from the right that Silvestre deflects behind his own goal for a corner. Rangers' best spell of the game.
22 min: Kevin Thomson, making his first start since suffering a serious knee injury back in November, is clearly not up to full speed yet and he is pulled up again by referee Mike Dean as he attempts to regain possession from an Arsenal midfield on top of their game.
18 min: Again it is Mendes who swings in the dead ball aimed for Bougherra, but he his beaten in the air and Arsenal remain comfortably in control of proceedings.
17 min: Better work on the right featuring Whittaker and Davis allows the latter to cross dangerously and they force a corner from the same side that yielded their winner against PSG yesterday.
16 min: Andrey Arshavin has a go from distance as the ball breaks to him following another foray down the Arsenal right, an area that has proved fruitful for them so far.
13 min: Kevin Thomson is the latest to surrender possession to the hosts and they almost open the Rangers defence again before Weir gets his team mate out of trouble.
12 min: Rangers are employing the same fluid formation they did against Paris Saint Germain yesterday but where they dominated the middle of the park against the French side they are being over-run today.
10 min: GOAL - Arsenal 2-0 Rangers
Things go from bad to worse for the Gers as Fran Merida picks up a loose ball in the middle of the park and with plenty of time on the ball slides a pass in to the path of Eduardo who rolls a left footed shot in to the far corner leaving McGregor no chance.
7 min: Sasa Papac is penalised for a foul on Emmanuel Eboue on the half way line as Arsenal again display the devastating pace they possess on the counter attack.
5 min: Arsenal break dangerously again and Eduardo slips the ball through Davie Weir's legs only to see Kevin Thomson race back to smother the danger.
4 min: Mendes releases Davis down the right but when his pass reaches Beasley the American dwells too long on the ball and the chance is lost.
2 min: GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Rangers
Jack Wilshere reacts quickest as the ball breaks off Andrey Arshavin in the box and drills the ball past Allan McGregor. Not the start Walter Smith's side wanted.
1 min: A bright start from Rangers sees Beasley break free but with Naismith looking like the best option the American opts to release Davis instead and the midfielder is crowded out.
0 min: Kyle Lafferty and DaMarcus Beasley get the game underway and after a 1-1 draw between PSG and Atletico Madrid earlier today the two sides in action this afternoon know that a win will see them collect the Emirates Cup, with a draw enough for hosts Arsenal to win their own competition again.
