WALTER SMITH has revealed negotiations with John Fleck's agent over a new contract have picked up again after a misunderstanding between the parties.

It was reported earlier this month that both Fleck and Danny Wilson, who share the same representative, had turned down enhanced terms with Rangers.

John FleckBut whilst that remains the case with Wilson, his teenage team-mate was not aware talks were taking place and he is keen to stay with the club.

Now Light Blues chief executive Martin Bain has re-entered discussions with Fleck's advisor in the hope of agreeing a new deal for the talented youngster at Ibrox.

Smith told Blues News: "The players have the same agent and we've found out in John's case there has been a slight misunderstanding between the representative and the club.

"As it transpires, John wasn't fully aware that his agent was negotiating a contract for him and the negative press has been a little hard on him.

"It was reported he had turned down the contract when he actually hadn't so negotiations are now taking place.

"Danny's situation still remains the same but John has come into the team, he's getting an opportunity to play and we're delighted with him so hopefully something can happen."
