Hard Work Still To Come

Walter Smith, Ally McCoist and Keny McDowall in training at Murray Park

WALTER SMITH is focusing on a big week for Rangers as he aims to guide his side through two tricky matches.

Kris BoydThe Ibrox boss as led his side to ten point lead in the SPL but refuses to get carried away with the situation in which the Gers find themselves.

After more than a month of speculation over his players Smith is happy to see the end of the transfer window and the return of attention to matters on the field.

After two tricky cup ties his side now return to league duty with a run of difficult matches kicking off at Fir Park tomorrow night.

He said: "It all finishes now and we get on with the football so that's what we have to do now because we have important games.

"We face two this week with a Motherwell team who have been doing very well recently and a Hibs team that has been doing exceptionally well throughout the season.

"Motherwell are probably the form team in the country at the moment and Hibs are in a situation where if they keep winning they have a game in hand that can take them in to second place.

"That's testimony to the way they've been playing all season so they are two games against two teams that are doing exceptionally well at the moment."

With such tough tests to come Smith is happy to be able to call on almost a full squad with only one injury concern for this midweek fixture.
