Thurs 04 Mar 2010 Out To Impress
By Andrew Dickson KRIS BOYD is determined to thank Scotland's fans for the reception they gave him last night by firing the country to Euro 2012. The Rangers striker made his first appearance for the national team in almost two years when he came on as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 win over the Czech Republic.
And having got life in new coach Craig Levein's pool off to a positive start, Boyd is eager to build on that when qualifying for the European Championships begins. The Scots will fight it out with title holders Spain, the Czechs, Lithuania and Liechtenstein for a berth at the finals in Poland and Ukraine. Boyd said: "I was delighted to get on and play in Scotland jersey again. It is something I have always wanted to do. "It was great to get a chance to do that against the Czech Republic and pleasing to get a good result that gets us off to a good start under the new manager. "The most important thing for me personally was to concentrate on the job I had to do on the park rather than anything else. "I couldn't let anything else get inside my head and now I'm just thrilled to be back and playing in the dark blue of Scotland once more. Latest News headlines
