RANGERS have drawn 0-0 with hosts Sydney FC at the Sydney Festival of Football. Here's a blow-by-blow account of how the game panned out.

Andrew Dickson reports from Sydney Football Stadium

90 mins - It's all over and a game which really never got going in horrific conditions ends as it started with no goals. Rangers were the better team after the break and might just have shaded it but Sydney will feel the end result is fair.

89 mins - Gers are throwing everything they've got at Sydney now but after winning a corner, Daivs wastes it but allowing it to drift out before it gets into the middle and it seems this one is destined to end goalless.

85 mins - Little does really well to hold the ball up and when Whittaker eventually lifts it back in, the young striker is inches from getting on the end of it as he tries to head home.

83 mins - Davis chases the ball into the corner and clips it back for Edu but keeper Reddy grabs it at the second attempt.

82 mins - This doesn't look good for Rangers with Lafferty's cramp-induced withdrawal in mind as McCulloch also limps off, with Jordan McMillan taking his place.

79 mins - Lafferty's night is over as he pulls up with what looks like cramp and is replaced by his Northern Ireland international team-mate Andrew Little.

73 mins - The visitors are having far more possession now as we move towards the final 15 minutes but they just haven't produced enough up front. Gers certainly look comfortable enough at the back and haven't really been bothered there but they really don't want to settle for a draw.

64 mins - Rangers have their best chance yet as Edu is fouled and Davis picks out the American with the resulting free kick. Edu connects really well with it but his downward header is tipped away. Seconds later, Neil Alexander claws a Iyane Thiam curler out of the top corner to keep it goalless.

62 mins - Gers win a free kick after McCulloch is chopped down by Terry McFlynn. Lafferty shapes to shoot from almost 40 yards and hoists it well over the bar.

60 mins - It's the end of the game for Miller, the matchwinner in Rangers' previous two pre-season matches. John Fleck is hit replacement and he'll move into midfield, with Lafferty pushing further forward.

57 mins - Good work by Kirk Broadfoot wins Rangers a corner after he charges down the left. Davis swings it in and McCulloch and Edu both go for it before they win another corner. The second one is just about dealt with by Sydney and the finally clear.

54 mins - It's a decent chance for Rangers as Davis finds space but as he tries to find Andy Webster he can't quite get there. Seconds later, Lee McCulloch shoots from 30 yards but is off target.

48 mins - Kenny Miller goes into the book for a crunching tackle on the far side and can have few complaints about the booking.

46 mins - Rangers get play going again and are now shooting towards their army of supporters behind the goal at the right end of the stadium. Sydney have made two changes but it's the same XI for the SPL side.

45 mins - Referee Matthew Breeze blows for half time and Sydney will probably be happier with the score at the break than Gers. The hosts have had more of the ball but as yet nobody looks like breaking the deadlock.

42 mins - Incredibly, a foul is given against Mo Edu when it seemed as though he was the man brought down by two opponents on the edge of the area. Justice is done as Scott Jamieson curls the free kick well over from 25 yards.

38 mins - Davis plays Naismith down the right channel with a great pass but the centre from the former Kilmarnock man is lacking somewhat and Sydney clear their lines.

34 mins - Lafferty goes on a glorious run and beats four men but as he tries to slip past a fifth to Naismith, there's a breakdown in communication between the two and the ball runs out for a goal kick.

31 mins - Naismith crashes to the ground after a really heavy challenge on the far side but after receiving treatment from physio Pip Yeates, there doesn't appear to be any real damage done and he returns to the action.

25 mins - The Light Blues are starting to show a bit more purpose now and Lafferty's shot is charged down, with the deflection taking it towards keeper Liam Reddy rather than the waiting Naismith. Nevertheless, it's more promising stuff from the SPL champions.

21 mins - Kyle Lafferty does really well to pull away from two men then tries to play Miller in. Under normal circumstances, his pass would be just about perfect but with plenty of surface water, the ball holds up more than normal instead and the attack breaks down.

16 mins - Mark Bridge has the Aussie side's first chance of note after a fortunate break on the edge of the area but his low shot is well gathered by keeper Neil Alexander.

15 mins - The home side is having plenty of possession but aren't really creating anything up front and at this stage, it seems Rangers are happy to absorb pressure then hit on the break.

9 mins - Sydney win their first corner but captain Terry McFlynn can't connect properly with it and Gers scramble clear.

6 mins - It has been a pretty scrappy start with Sydney doing most of the running in the early stages but another surge forward by Steven Davis sets up Mo Edu and his cross is only just nicked away from Naismith as he shapes to shoot.

2 mins - Rangers break from defence and force a corner after good work up front by Steven Naismith and Kenny Miller but it comes to nothing.

0 mins - On a sodden pitch caused by heavy rain over the last 24 hours in Sydney, it's the hosts who get the action underway.
