KRIS BOYD completed his dream move to Ibrox in January 2006, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The transfer ended months of speculation linking him with a switch to Ibrox and to say that he has done well since his arrival would be an understatement.
The striker has proved prolific in front of goal at every level of his career and represented Scotland at under-18 and under-21 level before making his full debut in the 5-1 Kirin Cup win over Bulgaria on May 11 2006, a match in which he scored twice.
A product of the Kilmarnock youth system, Boyd burst into the first team in May 2001 to help the Rugby Park side to a 1-0 victory over Celtic.
Thereafter he was a regular for the Ayrshire outfit and netted 68 goals in 116 starts.
One of his finest moments came against Dundee United in September 2004 when he bagged all five goals in a 5-2 win.
Such a prolific player was always going to attract attention from other clubs and he passed up the chance to move to Wolves, Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday during his time at Killie.
Boyd started season 2005/2006 in blistering form and charged to the top of the scoring charts with 17 goals by Christmas.
Alex McLeish had always been an admirer of the hitman and made his move to snap up the towering striker in December, ahead of the transfer window opening on January 1.
Boyd is good with his feet and excellent in the air and finished the season as Scotland's most prolific hitman with an incredible 39 goals for club and country.
That achievement also made him the first player in the SPL to be the top scorer at two clubs in the same season.
Boyd broke through the 100 SPL-goals barrier during the 2006/07 campaign and, despite being on record as saying it was a tough season for him personally, once again finished the country's top scorer with 26 goals in all competitions.
He also managed to break his Old Firm duck with a goal in the 2-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox that year.
Season 2007/08 would prove to be one of mixed emotions for Boyd. He would lift the first silverware of his career but missed out on the league title and UEFA Cup in dramatic fashion.
Boyd regularly found himself warming the bench as Walter Smith's squad lined up in a 4-5-1 formation that served them so well in Europe.
He still managed to find the net 25 times in all competitions including hitting a match winning double in the Scottish Cup final and another brace and the winning penalty in the League Cup final.
The Gers No.9 started the following season in fine style and after deciding to no longer make himself available to Scotland boss George Burley he went on a remarkable scoring run for his club.
Linked with a move to Birmingham and a possible reunion with former boss Alex McLeish in January 2009, Boyd rejected the switch to the English Championship in favour of targeting his first SPL title with the team he supports.
He achieved that aim just months later, scoring 31 goals in all competitions along the way. His most successful individual campaign in a light blue shirt and enough to earn him the first Sam English Bowl, awarded to the club's top scorer each season.
