STEVEN DAVIS finally returned to Rangers after penning a four-year contract at Murray Park in August 2008.

Steven DavisThe long running transfer saga with Fulham was completed after the finishing touches were put to a deal which had been on the go since the end of the previous season.

Lifelong Rangers fan Davis has joined his boyhood heroes on loan in January of 2008 as the Northern Ireland midfielder got the chance at last to play for the club he loves.

It came 11 years after he rejected the chance to Rangers as a kid in favour of a move to Premiership side Aston Villa instead.

In his time on loan at Ibrox, Davis played 26 times and scored one goal against Werder Bremen in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup.

Davis also played his part as Walter Smith's men won the League Cup and Scottish Cup against Dundee United and Queen of the South respectively.

He was hugely impressive during that spell and Smith pursued him throughout the summer of 2008 before finally getting his man.

Davis was delighted to secure a permanent deal and was no less impressive in his first full season as an incredible level on consistency saw him named by his teammates as their Player of the Year.

Despite playing out of his favoured central position, the midfielder contributed an impressive tally of seven goals from a wide midfield role.

But his personal highlight was quite probably his match winning goal in the final Old Firm derby of the season that sent his side two points clear and on the road to the title.

That SPL success also paved the way for Davis to sample his first taste of Champions League football in 2009/10.
