Rangers Study Support Centre allows pupils to come out of the classroom and into the heart of an exciting environment within the Stadium.
By letting them enjoy experiences that aren't possible within school, the Centre helps to bring learning to life and has proved inspirational to thousands of children, with its success becoming a model for similar initiatives around the country.
Rangers Study Support Centre is used for a variety of educational and community projects both during school term time and the summer holidays.
This invaluable resource is aimed at upper primary and secondary pupils, as well as the wider Glasgow community. The centre seeks to capitalise on the curricular and motivational contexts that football can easily provide.
The quarter of a million pound centre aims to develop literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, as well as developing confidence, self-esteem and motivation in young people.
The Centre seeks to raise achievement and help young people to become more effective learners whilst enhancing key skills.
The Centre is essentially a high-tech classroom based within the Stadium and was recently refurbished to a high specification. It includes a multi-media centre, equipped with the latest computers and modern teaching aids, as well as a reading zone, games zone and celebrity interview area.
The core course involves a weekly visit to the Centre for ten weeks and includes a graduation ceremony at the completion of the programme. The creative curricular is designed to enhance and complement the work of the school by providing a range of stimulus materials within a football or sports context. Through debating sessions, interviews with players and tutorials in marketing and football business, students are encouraged to think for themselves and enjoy a proactive learning experience.
