Last week the Rangers boss called for supporters to back the club by taking up the option of a ticket for the full campaign at Ibrox.
And he has been delighted by the response, with renewals taking the total to over 25,000 ahead of today’s public sale.
The opening of the sale for new season ticket holders has seen unprecedented queues outside the Ibrox ticket centre today.
And following on from superb backing at the East Fife League Cup tie, the response from fans has delighted McCoist.
He said: “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am by the support. I meet fans everywhere and their support gives you a real boost when it comes to what we’re attempting to do here.
“I have to say that they have been totally behind us and will continue to be totally behind the club and for that support we are very, very grateful.”
With over 38,000 turning out on a Tuesday night for a League Cup tie, McCoist is hopeful of hitting sell-out numbers at Ibrox on Saturday at 3pm.
He added: “That would be brilliant. I don’t want to tempt fate, but if it’s anything like the East Fife game on a Tuesday night it would be terrific.
“That was absolutely out of this world, it really was. It was a particularly good night for everyone involved in the club.
“The fans turned out in their numbers and the players gave a good performance so more of the same would be fantastic at the weekend.
“I’m looking forward to Saturday at three o’clock. We’ve already had games moved to a Thursday and to a Sunday at 4.30 and our supporters seem to be getting battered all over the place.
“So we’re looking forward to Saturday at 3pm. I thought in SFL3 we might get a good few of those but that remains to be seen.”
