The Rangers boss has already said this week that the 32-year-old central defender has been training well and was close to being ready.
And with clearance now received the experienced former Lazio star could be included in the manager’s squad for the meeting with East Stirlingshire.
That would provide McCoist with different options as he looks for his side to bounce back from the disappointment of a draw in the opening league match of the season last weekend.
He must still go without Ross Perry whose calf injury keeps him sidelined once again, while Kane Hemmings remains a long-term absentee.
Mo Edu will once again be left out of the squad with the American not training today following a long trip to Mexico on international duty.
Aside from that the manager expects to have a full squad to choose from.
He said: “Emilson is certainly in the squad and I’m hopeful he can be involved tomorrow.
“Ross Perry is still out with a calf problem but everyone else is in good fettle. Maurice has come back after a good result but didn't train today and he won't be in the squad tomorrow.
"The door is still open for Maurice. I've said to him that just because there are one or two clubs interested in him he shouldn't feel the door is shut here.
"If he doesn't go I'll be delighted to keep him here."
