Trev Makes Cup Draw

Written by

RANGERS will learn their fate in this season’s William Hill Scottish Cup on Monday when an old friend helps make the second round draw.

The Light Blues are coming in before the 3rd round stage for the first time in 41 years due to their new status as a Third Division side.

And it will be Trevor Steven who will play a key part in who Rangers will meet as he is making the draw with SFA president Campbell Ogilvie and Tony Kenny from William Hill.

Steven was a key protagonist for Rangers during the Nine in a Row era but never managed to win a Scottish Cup medal.

The 10 Third Division clubs come in at the second round stage and they are joined by the Highland League winners Forres Mechanics and runners-up Cove Rangers, the East of Scotland League winners Stirling University and the South of Scotland League winners Dalbeattie Star.

They are joined by the 18 winners from the first round ties which take place on Saturday.

The draw is open so Rangers could literally find themselves playing a team from anywhere in the country.

The second round is due to take place on Saturday, September 29.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ fixture with Clyde at Broadwood has been switched to Sunday, October 28 with a 12.45pm kick-off for TV purposes.
