Up For The Challenge

Written by

MOTIVATION won’t be a problem for the Rangers squad this season according to boss Ally McCoist.

The Rangers manager believes that any player fortunate enough to pull on the Light Blue shirt has it within themselves to raise their game to the occasion.

And he believes his current crop can match that expectation in a season he says he is thoroughly enjoying.

He said: “That’s why you’re fortunate enough to play for a club like this because the majority of the motivation, as Walter always used to say, has to come from within.

“If you’re going to need other people and other situations to motivate you then I would argue that you’re possibly at the wrong club.

“Every game you play for this club you have to win, every game. That itself must bring a self-motivation to play and to do well.”

The next step for McCoist’s squad is a trip to Berwick Rangers on Sunday and it is the latest leg on a journey the Rangers manager says has been an enjoyable one so far.

He added: “The division hasn’t differed to what I expected because the intensity has been there and the quality of the football has been there from the opposition as well.

“That hasn’t surprised me because all the teams have attempted to pass the ball at times, to get it forward quickly at times and to be aggressive.

“The intensity of the game and the atmosphere within the grounds has been brilliant as well.

“The whole thing hasn’t been exactly what I thought we would face, but certainly there haven’t been any real surprises so it’s been great, we’ve really enjoyed it.

“We’ll continue to enjoy it and I hope I’m right in saying that the guys at Brechin, Peterhead and Falkirk have enjoyed having us because we have to show them all the utmost respect.

“They have to us so far and we have to them so it’s been great.”
