The Rangers boss is a big fan of the Bairns’ attractive football and their young players’ desire to pass the ball from back to front.
That was evident last week when the Light Blues ran out 1-0 winners in the Ramsdens Cup at Westfield and McCoist believes his former teammate Steven Pressley will continue to use the same approach away from home.
He said: “I don’t see Falkirk changing much from the game we played through there last week.
“They pass the ball well and they have a young, talented team that wants to play.
“They all take the ball, that’s obviously Steven’s philosophy and, as I’ve said, I don’t really see them changing much at all, certainly not in their approach and the way they play the game.
“Tactically they might change a little bit in terms of their personnel and shape but in terms of them wanting to pass the ball and play good football I think they will be very much the same.”
Rangers’ main objective for this season is to be crowned Third Division champions but McCoist insists he wants his side to enjoy lengthy runs in every Cup competition.
He added: “The Cups are high on the list of priorities as you expect because you hopefully will stay in them for as long as you can.
“In saying that there were two or three great performances from SFL clubs in the League Cup last night which actually didn’t surprise me in the slightest.
“We’ve seen enough of the SFL so far to know that there are good players in it and good teams in it.
“So it might have shocked a few people last night but it didn’t shock ourselves.
“But there is no doubt the Cups are definitely very, very important to us this season.”
