A Good Reaction

Written by

RANGERS boss Ally McCoist was satisfied with his side’s reaction to going a goal down as they bounced back to win 5-1 for the second consecutive home league match.

The Light Blues had started reasonably brightly before falling behind to Jamie Duff’s fine curled finish, but it was their reaction to that goal that pleased McCoist.

He said: "I thought we started all right without being particularly good and then we lost the goal.

"The boys were moaning about the goal, saying that it wasn't a corner and then said the ball went out, but they would say that to me.

"I thought the finish was top class. I haven't seen it again but it looked like he curled it right in the top corner. It looked a great finish.

"We reacted to that well and got better as the game went on, especially in the first half. "I'm not sure that we deserved to go in 3-1 up at half time but we certainly were delighted to do that with the late goal.

"Second half we were a lot better in terms of passing being crisper and we created more up front and scored another couple of good goals.”

McCoist also rejected the suggestion that there are major concerns about his defensive after seeing them go another league game without a clean sheet.

He added: "If we win 5-1 I can get over that because it's not frustrating if you win the game.

"You obviously look at the goals you lose defensively and I think we could have done better at it.

"There is a feeling from within our camp that there is a wee bit of negativity about and maybe that’s right.

“Having said that it's my job to look at the goals scored and gainst and I'll continue to do that.”
