Nice View From The Top

Written by

LEE WALLACE was pleased Rangers made their way to the summit of SFL 3 on Saturday and insists they need to stay there.

The 2-0 win over Queen’s Park took the Light Blues top on goal difference from Elgin City and they key is to build upon that in the coming weeks.

He said:  “It’s a good feeling to be top of the table. We only found out when we came off the pitch and it made the day even better.

“We knew we had to bounce back after the disappointment against Stirling Albion. A lot of folk were down at that point and we had a break which wasn’t ideal because we wanted to rectify that as quickly as possible.

“But we had a good couple of weeks of training and we came good on Saturday. Although we came in 0-0 at half-time and there was a bit of frustration we had created chances and dominated possession.

“In the second half I think fitness was important as we kept pressurising and eventually the hard work paid off.

“I felt I had a good understanding with Fraser Aird in the first half but things weren’t just coming off for us.

“Dean Shiels moved to the left in the second half and we got some joy as the first goal came through him.

“He’s a great player and he has come off his best season with Kilmarnock last year and he is always going to help anyone around him. I felt he and I linked well.”
