Always A Point To Prove

Written by

KYLE HUTTON says Rangers always have a point to prove regardless of their opponents but admits there will be an added edge at Ibrox tomorrow night.

The Light Blues face Inverness in the League Cup and having seen the best performance of the season so far coming against Motherwell in the last round, Hutton expects a similar mood at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

He said: “There was a wee bit extra that night because we’re in the Third Division and we were coming up against a Premier League team.

“We wanted to go out and show we could still compete at that level and we went out and we did that and played really well that night.

“We hope we can do that tomorrow night. There will be the same feeling tomorrow but we’ll have a wee bit more confidence.

“There’s always a point to prove when you go in to a game and we showed how good we are against Motherwell and I think we have to take confidence from that game and from the win at the weekend.

“It’s going to be a massive game and hopefully a massive crowd so we need to try to take that confidence from those previous games in to this match.

“We definitely fancy ourselves at home against any team but it’s up to everyone else to decide if we’re favourites or not.”

With a semi-final spot and a Hampden appearance at stake there is plenty of incentive for Hutton and his team mates and he insists it wouldn’t be a shock to see Rangers in the last four of a major cup competition.

He added: “I don’t think it would be too much of a surprise to everybody because we know how good we are.

“We’re playing in the Third Division but we know how good we are so hopefully it wouldn’t be too much of a shock because we believe in ourselves.

“If we get to a semi-final it would be a great feeling for us and hopefully not too much of a shock for people.

“We are Rangers and we’re here to compete for everything, including the cup competitions.”
