Chance Of A Lifetime

Written by

NICKY LAW says the opportunity to join Rangers was the chance of a lifetime and insists there was no way he could turn down a move to Ibrox once he knew the club wanted him.

The English midfielder has agreed a three-year contract with the Light Blues which will take effect from September 1 once Gers’ transfer embargo ends.

Law has spent the last two years plying his trade in the SPL with Motherwell and has made a big impact in his time at Fir Park.

Ibrox fans have welcomed news he will be tied to Ally McCoist’s team until the summer of 2016 after it was announced earlier today.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV in his first interview since the terms of his deal were finalised, he spoke of his delight at his impending move to the Third Division champions.

And despite the fact they no longer have top-flight status, Law is adamant he could only have said yes to Rangers after holding talks with boss McCoist a few weeks ago.

The 25-year-old said: “It has maybe taken a few people by surprise that I’m here but I’m looking forward to the season ahead now.

“I learned of the interest in me quite a while back and in the last few weeks it has grown a bit more. I spoke to the manager before and we had a really good chat.

“When I left the meeting I had with him, I felt then that I knew where I wanted to go and I pretty much made the choice then that if we could make it happen, I would like join Rangers.

“Thankfully it has happened and I’m here now. The fact the team isn’t in the SPL any more doesn’t put me off and you’ll see that with the other new players hopefully coming in too.

“This is Rangers Football Club and as soon as you hear of that interest, it is very difficult to say no.

“I certainly wasn’t going to say no because this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If I said no now, I might never get the chance again. There was no way I could turn it down.

“With crowds you saw here at Ibrox last season were unbelievable and this was the fifth-best supported club in the UK.

“The fans are fantastic and I played here myself in the League Cup last season with Motherwell. It wasn’t even a full house then but it was the best atmosphere I’ve played in.

“I’m delighted to have come to the club this morning and I’m very honoured to be signing for Rangers.”
