Clark: "This Club Is Amazing"

Written by

NICKY CLARK could not hide his pride as he pulled on a Rangers jersey at Ibrox today and was finally unveiled as Ally McCoist’s fourth new recruit for the 2013/14 campaign.

The 21-year-old striker has agreed a three-year deal with the Light Blues and after scoring an incredible 41 goals for SFL2 Champions Queen of the South in 2012/13 he is desperate to fire his new club to the top of the same division.

Clark will not be registered until September 1 because of a transfer embargo but is thrilled to be joining the Gers squad and insists there are exciting times ahead for the club’s loyal supporters.

With Jon Daly, Nicky Law and Cammy Bell also on board McCoist has moved swiftly to bolster his group for stage 2 of The Journey back to the top of the Scottish game and Clark, the son of 80s star Sandy, can’t wait to get started and to play at Ibrox.

He said: “I was here last year with Queen of the South but just putting the top on today, what a feeling it is.

“As soon as I heard Rangers were interested in me I didn’t want to go anywhere else.

“This club is amazing. The fanbase is here, even in the Third Division there was 48,000 plus at Ibrox.

“So to get the chance to come in and play in front of that next season, I’m delighted.

“I want to be part of the journey back to where this club belongs in the SPL and in Europe.

“You see last week with the players the club has signed, there is great ability in the squad and I’m sure there will be a couple more to come in.

“Nicky Law is a great player and Jon Daly has played a lot of games in the SPL.

“That can only benefit me in terms of my career, coming in and playing with these boys.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

Clark was named the PFA Division 2 Player of the Year in May and is confident he can continue his terrific goalscoring form from last term with Rangers.

He added: “Last season was the best I have had in my career so far.

“It was amazing to win the league as early as we did and to win the Ramsdens Cup as well. I was also pleased to score the goals I did and to get the personal awards was great.

“But now I’m a Rangers player and I will work as hard as I can for the team and give everything, 110 per cent every week.

“I did that last season so that will not change and hopefully I can score as many goals as I can.

“I will give it my best shot and hopefully we can win the league again.”
