Little To Leave Club

Written by

ANDY LITTLE will leave Rangers this summer when his contract expires after eight years with the Ibrox outfit.

The striker met manager Ally McCoist for talks about his future today and is now on the lookout for a new club after a decision was taken not to offer him a new deal.

Little, 25 on Monday, had a frustrating campaign after breaking his jaw and cheekbone against Dunfermline in November.

Having scored six goals up to that point, he failed to find the net again and suffered further injury problems latterly when he hurt his thigh against Airdrieonians in March.

The Northern Ireland international first came to prominence in 2008 when he scored a cheeky backheel in extra-time against Celtic in a 3-1 SFA Youth Cup final win at Hampden.

Netting 38 goals in all for the Light Blues, Little was given the Sam English Bowl for being the club’s leading league scorer last season.

His finest moment came just over two years ago when he grabbed the winner in a 3-2 derby victory against Celtic.

Speaking on his Twitter account this morning, Little was clearly disappointed to be moving on and said: “It has been the best eight years of my life.

“Being a Ranger has been an honour and I’ll be on ‘til the day I die. Thank you to all at the club.”

Boss McCoist praised Little for the contribution he made to Rangers after choosing to stay on at Ibrox after administration.

He said: “Andy will move on this summer and we thank him for his efforts over the years. He has enjoyed some great moments with the club.

“His commitment to Rangers has been excellent and he enjoyed a good partnership up front with Lee McCulloch last season. We wish him all the best for the future.”
