RANGERS ladies have strengthened their pool for the second half of the season with the addition of Canadian midfielder Amy Harrison.

Harrison has studied and played for the past four years with the University of Tennessee in the USA where she was a key part of a strong soccer programme and captain of the team in her senior year.

The experienced 22-year-old represented Canada at under-17 level and participated in the 2008 World Cup in New Zealand.

The versatile midfielder featured in all 22 games for her university side in her senior year and scored six goals before deciding to move to Scotland and sign with Rangers.

Originally from Winnepeg, Canada, Amy has strong Scottish connections with her father hailing from Paisley and family still living in Renfrewshire.

Ladies head coach Angie Hind said: “I am delighted to have Amy join the club and help us strengthen the squad as we head into an important phase of the season.

"Amy’s former coach was a colleague of mine during my time in the States and when he contacted me about Amy I knew that she would be a quality player as Tennessee are a very well respected programme.

"Whilst she has only been with us for a week I am excited about the quality that she brings to the team. She is a very athletic and talented player with good leadership qualities and can bring a different dimension to our team.

"One of the great things about the US College game is that it produces players that can typically play more than one position and that type of versatility will again be an asset to our squad as we look towards the rest of the season.”

Amy was similarly delighted by the move: "I'm really excited to have been given this opportunity to play for Rangers. I have always wanted to play overseas, especially Scotland and I can't wait to make an impact on this team."
