Rangers were 5:0 winners in the game, thanks to a brace from Robert Fleck and goals from Ally McCoist, Robert Prytz and one for Australian David Mitchell.
Afterwards, an emotional Mackay said: "I'm grateful to everyone who turned up to help me. People have been marvellous since I had to give the game up and I can only say a big 'thank you' to all concerned".
