FAMOUSLY named after one of Rangers' greatest ever midfielders, David Cooper Templeton joined the Light Blues on transfer deadline day in summer 2012.

The young midfielder arrived at Ibrox just 24 hours after scoring for the Jambos against Liverpool at Anfield in a Europa League clash.

It was the latest step on the tricky winger's career path that started with Stenhousemuir in 2005.

After a prolific spell in the fourth tier he was snapped up by Hearts for £30,000 and loaned to Second Division Raith Rovers.

In the 2008-09 season he made a late break in to the Hearts first team and began to establish himself in the following campaign.

The 2010-11 campaign saw him grab seven goals in 33 SPL matches for the Tynecastle side.

His goals return the following season was considerably lower but he continued to impress with his creative displays.

Templeton has represented Scotland at under-19 and under-21 levels.
