CHARLIE Lindsay says that tough competitions are the biggest teacher as the squad welcome Hammarby for their first UEFA Youth League tie on Tuesday evening at Dumbarton.
The young Ger underlined what the boys are anticipating ahead of their first fixture in the competition tomorrow night and insists that competing against tough opponents will continue to improve their performance.
The youngster spoke exclusively to RangersTV as the squad prepare to face the Swedish side tomorrow night in the competition and outline his excitement to kick start their game this week. He said: “We’re fairly excited, it’s something that has been in the back of our minds for a while with the competition getting cancelled last year.
“It’s a brilliant competition to be part of and we’re all really looking forward to the challenge playing against a tough opposition who will give us a different test to what we play weekly in Scotland.”
Lindsay shared what the squad are anticipating ahead of the visiting side and the benefit it will have to the progression of their development. He added: “We think Hammarby will be a very good team who will give us different tests.
“They’ll be physical but technical as well, all-round they will be a tough opponent which is what we’re looking to play against. We all want to be playing against the best teams and tough opposition across Europe, so we are very excited for it.
“This will help us massively. The game is the biggest teacher, the more games that we get the more that we learn. Especially when we play against tough opposition it will give us different tests.
“When you play for Rangers you dominate the ball, our game plan won’t change we’ll play the way that we always do. It’s the ‘best v best’ competition and we just can’t wait to get into it.”
Lindsay highlighted the B Team’s appreciation for the growing support from fans this season and insists they want to see them on Tuesday evening. He said: “The fans have been brilliant, and we really appreciate their support. They keep turning up in numbers wherever we’re playing whether it is a home or away match.
“They give us motivation and push us on, it’ll be great to have them down supporting us on Tuesday night.”
