JO POTTER praised an excellent performance from her side after they ran out 3-0 winners over Hibs in the SWPL this afternoon.
Rangers got back to winning ways on their return from the international break thanks to a Mia McAulay double and a Rio Hardy strike from the substitutes bench following draws in their last two outings prior to the victory.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win in Edinburgh, the head coach was delighted with the victory and a well-deserved three points.
She commented: “I thought we were excellent, from start to finish.
“It can be a difficult place to come, we know that they are a tough team to play against and we know they can be aggressive in their press, I thought we saw that within the game.
“I thought we fronted that up really well, we accepted the pressure, we dealt with it in our one v one battles and I think we came out in the second half and just showed that little bit of extra quality which I asked for at half time.
“I think the performance was top today and we more than deserved the three points.”
The former Lioness has hailed her two goalscorers on the day as they were the difference makers in a commanding afternoon’s work in the capital, whilst also highlighting the solid defensive showing to secure the win.
She continued: “I thought she [McAulay] was outstanding. You see the performance and levels that she is producing now, she is starting to really kick on.
“You notice the difference with her when she is pulling up those moments and in front of goal we never have a question.
“You saw it against Celtic, you seen it again today coming off with a double. I think it is big for us that we got players like that can perform, but just as important for me I thought defensively we were excellent.
“A clean sheet is big for us; I think that to be able to come here and minimise a team to few efforts. We had to make a good save, Kathy has made a good clearance as well and think that is probably about it that they created.
“I think it was important for us that our structure was right today, it is something that we have worked on and really tweaked over the last couple of weeks.
“That was a big turning point for us and I think we just need to kick on from that and make that our standard now.
“She [Hardy] has deserved a goal. I said that to her, it has been coming.
“She has gone a little of a streak without scoring and you can tell she notices that. It is not something we’ve spoke about but I have heard her mention it a couple of times.
“I think it is important that we look after her in the right way. She has been absolutely immense up until now. She shouldn’t be putting the amount of pressure on herself.
“You saw the top goalscorer in the league in the opposition today so it’s minimising her and our ones putting it in at the other end. I think it was big for her today to come on and get a goal and perform well around that too.
“It is something that we have spoken about over the last couple of games that we have not been happy with. We know that we have dropped off from certain things that we expect in our standards and some non-negotiables that I put on the players in regards to that defensive shape and structure.
“Today they were excellent, they got it absolutely spot on, all three of them at the back were stood up and counted for. We were aggressive when we needed to be aggressive, we were calm when we needed to be calm.
“I think the performance came a lot from our defensive structure today and I can’t praise the players enough for that performance.”
