Rangers Season 2022/23 Fixtures Announced

RANGERS will open season 2022/23 with a trip to Livingston at 12noon on Saturday, 30 July.

That was the site of Gio van Bronckhorst’s first league match back in November, and the Light Blues will return to Almondvale to take on David Martindale’s outfit to kick-off the new season in just over six weeks’ time.

The first home league match is then slated for Saturday 6 August, with newly promoted Kilmarnock the visitors to Ibrox. It’s then a home match with St Johnstone on the weekend of 13 August, away to Hibernian on the weekend of 20 August before the month rounds off at home to Ross County on the weekend of 27 August.

The first Old Firm match of the new season will take place at Parkhead on the weekend of 3 September.

With the World Cup taking place in Qatar this winter, the Scottish Premiership will take a break, with Gers traveling to St Mirren on 12 November, and then not returning to action until 17 December when they play host to Hibernian.

That kicks-off the typically busy festive period, with games pencilled in away to Ross County on Christmas Eve, a home clash with Motherwell on Wednesday 28 December and then the first Ibrox Old Firm on January 2.

The third Old Firm match is at Parkhead on the weekend of 8 April, and the final match before the split sees Gers travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen on April 22.

The post-split dates are then as follows:

  • Saturday 6 May

  • Saturday 13 May

  • Saturday 20 May

  • Wednesday 24 May

  • Saturday 27 May

Away from league action, and Rangers will discover their UEFA Champions League, third qualifying round opponents on Mon 18 July. That tie will be played across 2/3 August and 9 August.

Success will see Rangers in the play-off round on 16/17 and 23/24 August. Defeat in either of those rounds will automatically send Gers to the UEFA Europa League group stage, with victory, of course, meaning group stage Champions League football.

The first group stage match for either competition takes place the week beginning September 5.

For the domestic cup competitions, Rangers will begin the defence of their Scottish Cup on the weekend of January 21/22, with the final of that tournament taking place on June 3.

Gers will enter the Premier Sports Cup in the second round on either Tuesday 30 or Wednesday 31 August. The Premier Sports Cup final takes place on Sunday, 26 February.

All fixtures are subject to change.
