STEVEN GERRARD praised his ‘excellent’ Rangers side as they claimed another three Scottish Premiership points at Aberdeen this afternoon.
The Light Blues boss watched his men net either side of half time through the superb Alfredo Morelos, and while Matty Kennedy pulled one back for the Dons, Gers saw the game out well.
Speaking to RangersTV at Pittodrie after his men made it three wins from three over Granite City club this season, Gerrard said: "Aberdeen is a tough challenge, whether at home or away and we have taken nine points from nine.
"I am very pleased with the outcomes of the three games. I felt we were excellent today to get two in front.
"I thought we were excellent even before the sending off as we were asking a lot of questions and were really good in possession and our standards and mentality were top.
"I thought the game became a little bit too easy for some at 2-0, and we started playing a little bit of walking football which can't be the case.
"At 2-0, we have to turn the screw, and fine-tune even more, have balance behind the ball and make sensible decisions.
"So we will certainly look into the game to try and improve from it, but the outcome of the game is what we have come for and it was another important win and the run goes on.
"We have a full week into Motherwell now so we are in a right good place.
"We always seem to find a performance here. Even the game we drew 2-2 here, we were outstanding up to that point.
"We had some real, scary moments here today which is through our own doing, but credit to Aberdeen, they tried to stay in the game. We had an idea they would always try to keep the one goal deficit.
"At 2-0, we needed to really play with more experience and more control, and unfortunately, we never did that."
Morelos’ double came from two Ryan Kent assists, and Gerrard was thrilled with the performances from all of his attacking players this afternoon.
He continued: "I am pleased that we have got our dangerous players on the ball in those areas. I thought the first goal was superb - typical Alfredo and a fantastic finish.
"Joe Lewis has made an excellent save from Ryan Kent as well so we have had some other real, big moments in the game, and to come here and create what we did is really pleasing.
"But our attacking players were certainly on it tonight. [Joe] Aribo was dangerous, Kent was dangerous, Ianis [Hagi] was always dangerous and I thought he made some great runs without getting put through.
"And Alfredo is back with a bang. I think we have seen signs of it in previous games, but he has looked happier, he has looked fresher and he has looked more fired-up in the last few weeks, so that is only a positive for everyone at Rangers."
At the other end, Allan McGregor made one, really top save from a Jonny Hayes effort – albeit the manager would have preferred him not to have had to make it.
He explained: "It was a top save, yeah, but we shouldn't be relying on Greegs the way the game panned out - he should have had a real, quiet 90 minutes.
"So for him to bail us out is something I need to look into because at 2-0, playing against 10-men, they shouldn't get near our goal, so that is where we need to strive to get better."
It’s now another whole week before Gers travel to Fir Park for their next match. Gerrard added: "We welcome the training time and we are always still trying to get those fine margins and improve in every single department.
"I wanted to try and use the bench a bit more today at 2-0 as I was thinking if we got another one I could have.
"But we didn't have that luxury so I am a bit disappointed there. But we will push the lads and have them ready for Motherwell.
"They have got a new manager in so we will do some homework on that and prepare the boys in the best way we can."
