This Week's Rangers Loan Review

RANGERS have a number of players out on loan across the Men's, Women’s and Academy sides at present and here’s our review of how each of those in action fared over the weekend.

Findlay Curtis – Winger – Kilmarnock

Findlay made his fourth appearance for Killie as they left it late to salvage a point away to Dundee United in a 1-1 draw at Tannadice.

The 19-year-old has played in a variety of positions since joining the Rugby Park outfit, underlining his versatility, as the Ayrshire side picked up a crucial point in their bid for safety.

Lyall Cameron – Midfielder – Aberdeen

Lyall started and played the full 90 minutes as Aberdeen fell to defeat at home to Dundee.

Steven Pressley’s side came back from a goal down to secure the victory as the midfielder made his sixth appearance for the Pittodrie side.

Ross McCausland – Winger – Aris Limassol

Ross was an unused substitute in Aris’ 1-1 draw with Krasava ENY over the weekend.

The Northern Irishman has featured over 20 times for his loan side as they look to return to winning ways in the coming weeks.

Clinton Nsiala – Defender – Westerlo

Clinton started for Westerlo as they produced a 2-1 win over Royal Charleroi SC on Sunday.

It was a second successive start and second win in a row for the Frenchman since joining Westerlo on loan.

Jose Cifuentes - Midfielder - Toronto FC

Jose started and played the full 90 minutes for Toronto FC as they lost out 3-2 to Dallas in their season opener.

The midfielder featured seven times for the MLS outfit in the second half of last season and was given the nod from the off to open the campaign.

Oscar Cortes – Winger – CA Huracan

Oscar was in the starting lineup as CA Huracan played out a 1-1 draw with Club Deportivo Riestra.

The winger played 55 minutes as both sides were unable to be separated, with Oscar having featured regularly for the Argentinian outfit.

Paul Nsio – Midfielder – Raith Rovers

Paul was a second half substitute for Raith as they earned a creditable point at home to St. Johnstone.

It was a well-earned clean sheet for the Kirkcaldy side with Paul springing from the substitutes bench late in the contest to gain more valuable minutes.

Leon King – Defender – Ayr United

Leon started and played the full 90 minutes as Ayr United played out a goalless draw with Ross County on Saturday afternoon.

The defender helped the Honest Men to a well-earned clean sheet in their push to finish among the play-off positions.

Callum Burnside – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Callum broke the deadlock for Alloa in their 3-0 victory over Hamilton Academical on Saturday afternoon.

He was released through on goal early in the second half from a Calum Adamson pass before dispatching low beyond the goalkeeper to set the Wasps on their way.

Calum Adamson – Midfielder – Alloa Athletic

Calum produced an excellent individual display as he grabbed a pair of assists in the triumph.

The midfielder laid on a beautiful slide rule pass to assist Burnside’s opener before supplying Luke Donnelly inside the penalty area for the Wasps to double their advantage.

Josh Gentles – Forward – Alloa Athletic

Josh was absent for Alloa in the victory after sustaining an injury against Queen of the South that will sideline the forward for a period of time.

We wish Josh well in his recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to action.

Lewis Stewart – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Lewis started and registered an assist for Andy Graham’s men in the 3-0 win over Hamilton.

The winger raced clear late in the game before squaring the ball across for Callum Gallagher to finish, taking his goal contributions to seven for the Wasps this season.

Jack Wyllie – Defender – Kelty Hearts

Jack was on the substitutes bench for Kelty as they played out a 1-1 draw with Cove Rangers.

The defender has been involved with Rangers Under-19s in recent weeks and was on the scoresheet against Motherwell eight days ago.

Zander Hutton – Defender – Hamilton Academical

Zander started for Hamilton in their defeat to Alloa Athletic.

The full-back was restored to the starting lineup and will be keen to play an important role in their bid to stave off relegation.

Arran Kerr – Defender – Stirling Albion

Arran started and played the full 90 minutes for Stirling Albion as they were edged out by Elgin City on Saturday afternoon.

It was a 14th appearance of the season for the 18-year-old defender who has worked his way into the Binos side in recent months through his impressive performances.

Connor Campbell - Defender - Stirling Albion

Connor was absent for the League Two outfit through injury but is expected to return this evening as the Binos are back in action.

They host Annan Athletic at Forthbank Stadium as they look to return to winning ways.

Cormac Christie - Forward - Forfar Athletic

Cormac is returning from an injury that has sidelined the forward since November.

The 17-year-old is expected to join back up with the Forfar group this week as he continues his first taste of senior football in League Two.

Mason Munn – Goalkeeper - Forfar Athletic

Mason made his debut for Forfar Athletic in their 2-1 victory over Annan Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

The Loons left it late to secure all three points as Mason looks to nail down a starting spot in the side for the remainder of the season.

Alfie Halliwell – Goalkeeper – Albion Rovers

Alfie started for Albion Rovers as they tasted a 4-0 defeat to Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday afternoon.

The young goalkeeper has been an ever-present for the Lowland League side this term in his first taste of senior football.

Blaine McClure – Midfielder – Nottingham Forest Under-21s

Blaine started for Nottingham Forest Under-21s as they fell to defeat against Liverpool.

The midfielder played the full 90 minutes as he continues his development in the youth ranks of the Premier League outfit this season.

Telma Ivarsdottir – Goalkeeper- Inter Milan

Telma was on the bench for the second match running as Inter narrowly lost out 1-0 in a top of the table clash against league leaders AS Roma at the weekend.

The goalkeeper is yet to make her debut for the Italian club since her January loan switch, as they look to make up the six-point gap upon their return from the international break.

Sophie Townsley – Striker – Motherwell

Sophie was back in the Motherwell starting lineup and featured for 74 minutes in their defeat to Glasgow City in league action on Sunday.

International duty now beckons for the young forward, as she joins up with Scotland Under-19s for their matches over the next fortnight.

Mia McArthur – Midfielder- Motherwell

Mia, likewise was in action for Iain Robinson’s side in East Kilbride as they fell to the 4-0 loss in the SPWPL.

She will also be on 19s duty with her teammate, as her club will have a battle on their hands to maintain their top-flight status during the second half of the season.

Lucy Livie – Winger- Boroughmuir Thistle

Lucy was introduced as a second half substitute for the final 20 minutes in Boroughmuir’s 2-0 home defeat to Dundee United.

Her team still maintain a six-point cushion in the top four in SPWPL 2, as they target a strong run in towards the end of the campaign.

Natalie Bandura – Striker – Spartans

It was positive afternoon for both Natalie and Spartans as they signed off for the break with a 5-0 success over East Fife at Ainslie Park.

The forward was on hand to convert the opener from the spot before providing an assist for the third goal as they claimed victory in Scotland’s second tier.

CaCee McKenna – Defender – Spartans

CaCee was in the starting side and featured for 55 minutes as she helped Spartans to victory.

She will hope to continue gaining minutes upon their return, with the not back on the pitch until Sunday, March 15.

Sophie Rutherford – Winger- Queen’s Park

Sophie started and featured for the entirety on the contest as Queen’s Park played out a goalless draw with leaders Kilmarnock.

They currently sit third in the league’s standings, with play-offs the most likely scenario if they are to achieve promotion back to the top tier.

Rebecca Simpson – Defender – Gartcairn

Rebecca was an unused substitute as Gartcairn claimed a 1-0 win over Livingston in their final outing before the break.

They secured a top-six finish and will target a strong run towards the end of the season to try finish in the play-off places.

Alba Stewart – Midfielder- Gartcairn

Alba was named in the starting side with the solitary goal separating the team’s in Airdrie.

The midfielder has enjoyed a run in the side to date, as she continues to gain experience featuring in the women’s second tier this season.
