RANGERS Football Club are today delighted to announce that Victoria Esson has signed a contract extension until summer 2025.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper becomes the latest player to commit their future to the Light Blues ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Esson joined the club in the summer of 2022 from German side, SC Sand, and was part of the Gers squad which lifted the Sky Sports Cup for the first time ever midway through the 2022/23 campaign.
In the meantime, the goalkeeper represented New Zealand at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on home soil last summer, starting all three of her side’s games.
The 33-year-old continued her impressive form for the Light Blues as she played an integral role in helping Jo Potter’s side lift the Sky Sports Cup once again this past season, while she also added to her trophy collection by helping the team triumph in the Scottish Cup.
Upon signing her contract, Esson commented: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract. Rangers has been my home for the last few years and I’ve really enjoyed my two years at the club.
“It’s a very exciting time for the club and I hope that we can hit the ground running from the get-go ahead of next season.
“It’s a great group of girls, alongside a strong coaching staff, and I’m really looking forward to another campaign at Rangers.”
Head Coach, Jo Potter, continued: “Vic has been a hugely influential member of the squad over my time at the club and it is pleasing that she has signed an extension until next summer.
“She is part of a highly competitive goalkeeping unit at the club who continue to push each other every day, and I believe her character and temperament will be vital to our ambitions ahead of the upcoming season.”
Donald Gillies, Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director, added: “We are delighted that Vic has committed her future to the club ahead of the upcoming season.
“Her professionalism and dedication to improving every single day is infectious, and she played a vital role in helping the side achieve a cup double last season.
“Vic leads by example both on and off the pitch, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of her in a Rangers jersey.”
