RANGERS Academy have had a number of players representing their nations over the last seven days on international duty.
Here’s a look at who was involved and how they fared:
Leyton Grant and Bailey Rice – Scotland Under-19s
Scotland 0-1 Wales – UEFA Euro Under-19 Qualifier
Scotland 4-0 Lichtenstein - UEFA Euro Under-19 Qualifier
Scotland 0-0 France – UEFA Euro Under-19 Qualifier
Two Gers youngsters were involved in the Scotland Under-19s squad for their European Under-19s Championship qualifiers.
There was a late appearance for Bailey Rice from the substitutes bench as the Scots suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wales in Stirling before the pair were named in the starting lineup in a comfortable 4-0 win over Lichtenstein at Cappielow.
A 0-0 draw against France at the Falkirk Stadium was to follow with Rice getting minutes once again as Neil McFarlane’s side narrowly failed to qualify for the Elite round of qualifying which takes place in March.
Mason Munn, Callum Burnside and Blaine McClure – Northern Ireland Under-19s
Northern Ireland 0-4 Denmark – UEFA Euro Under-19 Qualifier
Israel 3-1 Northern Ireland – UEFA Euro Under-19 Qualifier
Northern Ireland 1-0 Albania – UEFA Euro Under-19 Qualifier
A trio of Light Blues youngsters were involved as Northern Ireland played out their respective European Championship qualifiers in the four-team mini tournament held in Albania.
They were firstly beaten heavily by Denmark in a 4-0 defeat in a game where there were starts for all the Gers players including a first appearance at that level for midfielder Callum Burnside.
A second consecutive start for goalkeeper Mason Munn was to follow with his club teammates appearing from the substitutes bench as the young Northern Irish side were beaten 3-1 by Israel.
They did round off the break on a high however as Gareth McAuley’s men were victorious in the final match as they ran out 1-0 winners over Albania, but also missed out on the next stage of qualifying to be played next spring.
