Beale Delighted With Quality of Goals

MICHAEL Beale insists he was delighted with the quality of the goals from his Rangers side as they produced a convincing 2-0 victory over St. Johnstone at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.

The Light Blues extended their winning run to five matches with the win as Todd Cantwell impressed on his debut and Glen Kamara netted a goal of supreme quality to round off the scoring in the second half.

Speaking to RangersTV after the match, Beale was encouraged by the individual quality on display: "I'm happy with the three points and another clean sheet. It was a really positive debut for Todd Cantwell and it was lovely to see Ianis Hagi back as well.

"I'm pleased for Glen. He's been managing an ankle injury, but I thought that was a stronger performance from him today. It's nice that he's getting in the final third and scoring, and he's also looking to pick passes and send people through like he did for Alfredo [Morelos] which is something we're asking him to add to his game.

"[For Todd], it's always nice for someone when they're signing for such a big club and it's a home game. I thought he was excellent. Some of the movement between him and Malik [Tillman] in the first half was very good. As a team we perhaps didn't reward it by scoring a goal off it, but the early signs with those two, just training together for two or three days, is that they're building a nice relationship on that side of the pitch so I'm very pleased with them.”

Remi Matthews in the St. Johnstone goal made a host of impressive saves throughout the 90 minutes to deny Rangers more goals on the afternoon, and Beale insists that there is still further attacking improvement to come from his side.

He continued: "We missed a lot of chances today and our final pass at the end of some good moves, certainly in the first half. That [the second goal] was a particularly good goal, 15 or 16 passes, and it was nice to see Glen Kamara scoring because that's quite rare.

"He [Matthews] made a couple of good stops, one I remember was from James Tavernier in the first half from a free-kick and an excellent save with his shoulder from Ryan Kent in the second half. There was also one from Alfredo when he was through in the first half as well which was another great pass from Kamara. There was some good play, we were very sloppy in our last pass at times because otherwise it could have been one or two goals more.”
