Beale Shares Delight At Progress

MICHAEL Beale has expressed his delight at the progress the club has made since his return to Rangers in December and has encouraged his side to continue their form between now and the end of the season and beyond.

The Gers have had an unbeaten Scottish Premiership run since the manager took charge, winning 13 and drawing one of 14 league matches played thus far.

Speaking to RangersTV ahead of his side’s return to league action this weekend the manager wants his team to continue moving forward as they approach the final part of the campaign.

He said: “Naturally I have been delighted with the majority of the games, to win 17 out of 19 and only lose one, albeit a disappointing one, has shown the progress and has shown that the players have taken on board the ideas.

“I have heavily been looking at the data from earlier in the season and maybe the whys and why nots of why things weren't perfect at certain times and been looking at some of trends that have been in place the last two or three months that have enabled us to go on this run.

“These are the type of winning runs that we need to go on consistently now moving forward, and obviously it is a chance for me to look again towards the recruitment and the future and what we might need.”

The manager has spoken about the spirit within the squad and believes there is a feel good factor around the place which comes from the performances and results they are producing on the pitch.

He continued: “Confidence comes from winning games of football, from training well and from enjoying your environment, enabling people to be themselves and be really comfortable in the environment. The level of training has gone up in the last few weeks when we have had more players fit and able to train consistently, which is something that wasn't available to us when I first came into the club.

“There are a lot of things that are positive, the environment here for us as staff and players is fantastic, what the club provide to us, it removes all the excuses really, the pitches are good, the food is good, the gym and recovery, the way that we travel and the places that we stay.

“What you try to do for these young men is remove the excuses to enable them to perform, I think as a club we do provide that”.

The Light Blues return to Scottish Premiership action after the international break this Saturday against Dundee United at Ibrox and the Gers boss is expecting another challenge as he faces opposition manager Jim Goodwin once again.

He added: “You are playing a coach for the third time in your spell here, obviously with Aberdeen it was two quite close games that we got victories in and they are fighting for their lives down the bottom of the league, and they will come to Ibrox and make it tough, like most teams do.

“I am sure they will try and reduce the space on the pitch, it is important for us that we are very sharp in the final third and we keep creating the opportunities that we are and scoring goals, of late we have scored quite a lot of goals but it also fair to say in every single game we could have scored more, for me the most important thing is that we are creating chances and scoring.

“I would like us still to be a little more ruthless because I think if you look back to the Motherwell game we should have scored more goals, the Raith game as well, away at Hibs we should have scored more goals, there are good signs that we are scoring threes and fours, but also I want us to be a little bit more ruthless.”
