Blaine McClure Loving Life At Rangers

NORTHERN IRISH midfielder Blaine McClure says he’s loving life at Rangers after making his B Team debut in this afternoon’s 5-3 victory over Dundee.

The 17-year-old was a second half substitute for the young Gers as he made his first ever appearance for David McCallum’s side after being a regular fixture in the Under-18s side this season.

Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, a delighted McClure beamed: “It’s good to make my B Team debut. I’ve waited a long time for it. I’ve been on the bench for the last few weeks, been patient and waited for my chance, and I’m glad that I took it.

“It was just about going on and enjoying it. I’ve been patiently waiting on my chance and I just wanted to show what I’m about, which I think I done.

“It’s now onto the semi-finals of the Scottish Youth Cup on Friday night and I’m hoping that we get the win. I believe in the boys.

“Hopefully there are many more chances at B Team level to come and that I’m able to take my chance and do well.”

McClure has trodden a similar path to Academy graduate Ross McCausland after making the move to Rangers from Linfield as a 16-year-old.

And the teenage midfielder admits he sought the advice of the Gers winger in his first few months at the club, crediting McCausland with helping him adapt to life in Glasgow.

He added: “I’ve enjoyed it. It’s been very good and I’ve settled in very well.

“I think now I just need to strive and push on to try and achieve my goals.

“Ross McCausland is a big inspiration to me. He was very good to me when I first came over; welcoming me to the club as a new boy considering he has been here for a few years.

“He has taken me under his wing and guided me the right way.”
