Brogan Hay Looking To Build On Strong Start

BROGAN HAY believes the whole Rangers squad will be key this season as they look to build on a strong start to the SWPL campaign.

With four new signings since the winter break, competition within the squad has increased but Brogan insists every player will have their part to play.

In January, Rangers announced the signings of Kirsty Howat, Rachel McLauchlan and Sam Kerr from Glasgow City, with Chantelle Swaby making the move from America.

Speaking to RangersTV, Hay said: “It is great to have them, I think they make a really big difference and I think it has just completed our squad.

“It is maybe what we needed to get that extra boost and I think having that competitive environment is only going to benefit all of the players individually as well as a team.

“You know you have to work hard. You are fighting for a position but you are also fighting for what everyone wants which is for the team to be successful so I think the competitive environment just gives you that extra drive.

“I thought I played well in the opening seven games, if I came on as a substitute I really tried to make that impact and it is just as important to start the game as it is to finish so I think that is a big thing for our team.

“There are a lot of players who are maybe competing for positions but that's what makes it such a good environment and makes it so competitive.

“It is a great squad to be a part of. It is a really comfortable environment, everyone works hard for each other as well as themselves and we all just want to do really well for the club.”

With the SWPL and training currently suspended, Hay says they can’t wait to get back into action as they look to build on their form before the winter break.

She continued: “We are all itching to get back because of the start we had to the season.

“We know what we are capable of doing and I think everyone wants to get back on the pitch and prove that.

“The first seven games I thought were really good for us we got some really good results in there and we got the points that we wanted and I think that put us in the best possible situation we could be in during the break.

“I think the confidence in the team has really grown since the start of the season. We knew we had some stuff to work on but throughout training and with sessions with the coaches we spoke about what we wanted to work on and I think as the games went on we really brought that into our game and we got the results.”
