Brogan Hay Named March Player of the Month

RANGERS winger Brogan Hay has been named the Park’s Motor Group Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month winner for March.

The Scotland international enjoyed a fantastic month for the Light Blues, providing three goals and an assist as Malky Thomson’s side went unbeaten in four outings.

Hay becomes the first player to ever win the award on three separate occasions and shared her delight of being recognised for her efforts last month.

She said: “It is a great feeling, when I saw that I was nominated alongside some really good players in the league who are competing at the top, I was delighted to be nominated firstly but to have won the award it means a lot.

“Of course I am really happy with that, the previous times that I have won it I have just felt that same, it is nice to be noticed for your work and your contributions to your team.

“Ultimately I all want to do is just contribute to the team performances as much as I can.”

The 24-year-old says she is happy with the numbers that she has added to her game so far this campaign and wants to continue to do so moving forward for her club.

She continued: “It was something that I spoke with the coaches about at the start of the season, how I really wanted to try and add some goals to my game or contribute to the goals directly.

“It is something that I am really happy with and I will continue working on and hopefully there will be more of that.”

The Gers return to league action this weekend as they head to face Partick Thistle and the winger is expecting a challenge when they come up against Brian Graham’s side on Sunday afternoon.

She added: “The games are coming thick and fast now, we just need to focus on one game at a time, control the controllable which is going into every game with a winning mindset.

“We just need to go for the three points and we have got the cup coming up so it is a big few months ahead but I think we are ready for it.

“I expect it to be a tough game, they are a really organised side, when we have played them previously they have made it hard to break them down.

“We just need to stick to our game plan and focus on what we want to work on and if we play our own game I think we will find a way.”

Sunday will mark the start of a crucial six days for the Light Blues which will also see them face leaders before rounding off the week with the Scottish Cup semi-final and Hay says the squad are prepared for what lies ahead.

She said: “We just need to focus on one game at a time, once we get Partick Thistle out the way we have got Glasgow City and Motherwell, we just need to really use the squad depth when it comes to games like this. I think if we just stick together we'll find a way to win.

“It is massive, there is loads of games coming up in the next couple of months and I think we just need to utilise every player in the squad, that is where the real togetherness comes in.

“We all want the same outcome in the end so we just need to work really hard for each other, alongside the staff and everyone else at the club, ultimately we all want the same thing and that is to win so we just need to stick together.”
