CALUM ADAMSON praised the second half display of the Rangers side as they completed a fightback from two goals down to beat Larne in a pre-season friendly this afternoon.
The youngster played his part after being introduced from the substitutes bench to win a penalty and head home the winning goal as the Light Blues enjoyed a productive outing against the Northern Irish champions.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, the midfielder was happy with his own display after coming on and the team’s in the second 45 minutes in particular.
He commented: “I thought it was a very good game, it was very entertaining for a decent crowd anyway.
“It was probably the biggest crowd I have played in myself so it was very good.
“I would say the first half was a bit scrappy, we were just trying to find our feet.
“Obviously playing against men so we are not used to that but second half we gave a much better account of ourselves I would say and had a lot of opportunities, probably could have had a few more if I am honest but I was happy to get the goal and win the penalty.
“We weren't winning the game at the time so David [McCallum] just said to me just go on there and be yourself.
“Move the ball as quick as possible because you are playing against men and I felt as if I did do that so made a good impact on the game and I am happy with my performance.”
The 16-year-old, who has made the step up to the B team in recent months, said it was beneficial playing against men with their opponents competing in Champions League qualifying recently, as he spoke of his own personal fitness levels throughout pre-season so far.
He continued: “We have not got much experience against men's football so I found it very beneficial and hopefully it can help me going into the future and I can play against more teams like this and I really enjoyed it.
“I think I am getting to my fitness levels now; it is very good taking the step up to the B team.
“The Under-18s have also got a very long season so hopefully I can join in on both parties and have a very good season.
The Light Blues now turn their attention to the start of the competitive matches as they begin their SPFL Trust Trophy campaign on Tuesday evening and Adamson is looking forward to the test that awaits.
He added: “We have obviously got a big match on Tuesday night against Bo'ness [United] in the cup, so looking forward to that and also another challenge against men so it should be good.”
