CAMILLE LAFAIX says the opportunity to win trophies was of the main reasons why she chose to make the switch to Rangers.
The 23-year-old joins from French club Bordeaux having spent her first season in professional football in Europe last season having previously played college football in the USA.
Speaking to RangersTV in her first interview as a Ger, she says there are exciting opportunities ahead for the team in the season ahead.
She commented: “A chance to win trophies? I think that is one of the biggest reasons why I came here is to help contribute as much as I can to win the treble.
“I know how close we were last season, so I am ready to join the bandwagon and help the team as much as I can.
“I think that was one of the first things that Jo [Potter] talked to me was about was Champions League qualifiers. Of course that was a green flag for me and to be part of a team that is willing to compete against the best in Europe is exciting.
“At first I was hesitant to move away from family and then as Jo started to introduce the project and the professionalism of the club and the objective to win the treble for example, are certain priorities in my career, so I thought it would be the best suit for me.”
The attacking midfielder spoke of her journey in football so far and is hopeful her experiences playing in a top league in 2023/24 will help her be a success in Scottish football.
She continued: “I grew up in California, I started to play at a really young age.
“As I got into high school I realised that this is something that I want to take seriously. I was able to commit to division one college in Central Coast, California.
“Played my four years there, got my bachelor’s degree and decided that I was still not ready to hang up the cleats so last year I was fortunate enough to sign my first professional contract in Bordeaux in France.
“I played my first season there and decided to sign here for my second professional contract.
“Compared to the level in college it was a step.
“I definitely learned a lot, learned on the pitch, off the pitch, in training and also just the speed, intensity and the power of the girls is definitely at the highest level.
“Last season was a huge learning curve for my career.”
“I think the Scottish league is growing and to play in France in one of the best leagues in Europe.
“I am hoping to bring that one year of experience as best as I can and to also learn the different type of league that Scotland can give me.
“To kind of combine the experiences that I have attained and to use it with my best abilities.”
Lafaix could make her debut in the fixture against Partick Thistle this weekend, saying she is hopeful of helping the team to further succeed throughout this season.
She added: “Seeing the girls play so well, get an absolutely ridiculous result 11-0 just proved to me exactly what great of a decision I made to come here.
“I cannot wait to get my first minutes with the team and hopefully help them play as well as they did last weekend.”
