Danny Rohl: All Focus on the Next Three Points

DANNY Röhl insists it is all about the next game, as Rangers prepare to welcome Aberdeen to Ibrox tomorrow evening.

With just eight games remaining in the Scottish Premiership, the head coach knows a win is crucial before heading into the international break.

Speaking to the press at this morning’s pre-match press conference, he said: “The key is that we come into the international break with the three points and then we have two more games and then we go into the split. Time is running out, there are less games to go and for us it is about winning.

“First, I am looking for the next three points, that is the most important. Everyone will agree that a good performance without the win is nothing, we need wins.

“All three clubs now know what it means. Every point that you drop now is crucial and it is the reason why it is all about the next cup final.”

Röhl provided an update on his squad, with Diomande back in training after suffering a shoulder injury.

He continued: “Dio looked good, but of course with the situation, all of the midfielders are available, it is a tough one for me to make a decision. Skov was ill this week, I am not sure if he will be in the squad tomorrow, and Mikey still has some small problems.

“This is the most challenging bit at the moment not to manage the squad but to see players who are doing really well, they invest, they train with a big heart, with quality and you cannot put them in the starting XI or you cannot even take them in the squad.

“For all of us this is a new situation because until the Hearts game we always had a midweek game. It was easy to rotate. Now we have normal weeks it is important that we train well, manage them well, and then you have to fight not just to be in the starting XI but to even to be in the squad. It is important that we understand the team at the moment is the most important thing, not the individual.”

On Aberdeen, the head coach continued: “In general, the last game was unlucky for them to lose a very late equaliser, it could've been a win. A new manager gives new ideas and new energy.

“They will have a clear structure, the manager had a clear structure at St Mirren. Honestly in the final eight games there is not one easy game, you look on paper and you think it should be a win. This is what we expect and what we have to do there is no question mark, but all of these games are difficult.

“You have to handle the different challenges, and this is what we have to prepare for. My team know exactly what we have to do. It is a good pitch, we are at home and I think we will find the right positions tomorrow and then we can create chances. At St Mirren we created a lot of opportunities but in different moments we were not clinical enough and this is what we have to take from this game and have to do it better.”
