DANNY Röhl says Rangers must head to Rugby Park tomorrow evening with the right mindset to deliver three points.
In the third Premiership outing of the week, the Light Blues will target a return to winning ways after back-to-back draws in their previous two league outings.
Ahead of his first trip to Ayrshire and taking charge of the side on an artificial pitch, the Head Coach spoke to the media in this afternoon’s press conference, he said: “It is a different kind of game playing there, but a lot of teams before have won on there and showed that you can do it.
“I think this is also the mindset, and not looking for excuses, be prepared and make a good game. Go there and take the points, and go home.
“We checked about this pitch to get an impression. It is important to take the players with you; they know the pitch better, and I spoke with some other players.
“It is what it is; we have to take it; we have to go there and win the game, and what happens in the future we will see.
“I think you have to understand which areas we can play football and which areas maybe you have to avoid.”
The German has been boosted by the return of Mikey Moore from injury, who rejoined back up with the squad following an injury lay-off earlier today, discussing the impact he has had during his time working with the Spurs loanee so far.
He continued: “Mikey [Moore] trained with us today, and if there is no reaction, he will be back in the squad tomorrow, which is good news.
“Dujon [Sterling] is not available for the game, of course, with the pitch, you have to be careful, and all the others are still the same.
“I think he [Moore] showed especially in the Dundee game when he scored, which skills he has, especially between the lines.
“I think that was one of the best games from him. I think I see him more inside and not just in wide areas, which is good.
“He gives us these moments between the lines, he can have good decision-making, give and goes, good finishing.
“Of course, after an injury, you have to bring him back step by step, but I saw today in the small-sided game he showed what he can do, and this is good news for us, especially for the upcoming games.”
Röhl knows the high standards expected at the club ahead of his latest outing in charge, as they target victory in Kilmarnock to close the gap on those above them, with the Head Coach keen for his side to combine the good parts of the last two draws to claim victory.
He added: “If you get both performances together, then we have an outstanding game. I think this is the key and what we are working for.
“The defence, they conceded goals. I don't think this was just from one mistake; it was three or four in a row.
“What we have to do better for the second conceded goal was the third or fourth phase of the set play.
“Then we had some transitional moments against us where you have to make sure that the rest of the defence is organised. The positive thing was the improvement from the Falkirk game to the Dundee United game.
“The demand is always high; we wanted to win the game. I think there was a mix; they were happy to take the point but also disappointed not to win it.
“I took it like that, and it was the same for me. I was also happy to take the point, but also unhappy that we couldn't win it.
“Not just in January, but in general, we have to close the gap. Of course, the last two games were draws, which opens the gap a little bit.
“If we win tomorrow, we will be just six points behind. Of course, the two opponents ahead of us have to play against each other.
“Not both can win, and then we all have the games in our hand, and this is a long way, but it is not impossible.”
