DUJON STERLING says he feels at home at Rangers after agreeing a new deal to commit his long-term future to the club.
The versatile defender has signed an extension on his current contract with the Light Blues which will now keep him in Glasgow until the summer of 2028.
Speaking to RangersTV after putting pen to paper to extend his stay, the Englishman commented: “Why Rangers? I just think it is a great place to work every day.
“Obviously with a good manager, teammates and staff and then good fans. It feels like a home at the minute so I don't think there was a reason to change it.
“It is the right environment for me as well. Obviously it is still close to London if you get a flight but it takes away that distraction a bit more.
“I think it gives you something like a purpose and motivation every day to come in, that you want to do more. Obviously I have got the reward now and I want to repay the favour.”
The former Chelsea man was part of the Gers squad that claimed League Cup success last season, and the 24-year-old is hopeful of winning further silverware in the rest of the campaign whilst competing on the European stage.
He continued: “It has been good, obviously we won a trophy last season but we didn't win the league.
“We want to try and win that this season, as well as winning another trophy and getting as far as we can in the Europa League, hopefully to the final. For me it is just trying to stay in every competition as long as possible.”
Sterling says there is much more to come from himself on a personal level as well as the team, as they prepare for another big week of football when they welcome French side Lyon to Ibrox on Thursday evening.
He added: “It is all positive, we know the performance wasn't great against Hibs, but sometimes you have just got to go out and get the three points.
“I know every time the performance can't be good but we have had games last season where we played better than that and we didn't get the result.
“For us the main thing was to get the three points and continue building momentum, since we have come back from the internationals we haven't lost. Going into Lyon we just want to continue.
“More to come? For me a lot personally, I am not happy with how I have played so far but I want to turn that around.
“For the team I think we are going in the right direction, you can see that we are improving.
“We still need to gel a bit but everyone is positive around here so it is really good.”
