Findlay Curtis Becomes Scotland’s Youngest World Cup Player

FINDLAY Curtis became the youngest ever player to feature for Scotland at a FIFA World Cup when he appeared in the second half for Steve Clarke’s side in Sunday morning’s 1-0 victory over Haiti.

The Rangers Academy graduate, who turned 20 six days ago, broke the record held by Bournemouth winger Ben Gannon-Doak (20 years and 214 days) which was set in the same game.

Curtis helped Scotland over the line in a crucial victory that catapulted the side to the summit of Group C after matchday one.

It was also Scotland’s first victory at a World Cup in 36 years since Stuart McCall and Mo Johnston both scored in a 2-1 group stage win over Sweden.

The Gers were represented in the starting lineup when summer signing Lawrence Shankland was given the nod from the off.

He was replaced late in the second period by Curtis, while John Souttar and Liam Kelly were among the substitutes.

Former Rangers full-back Nathan Patterson, who also progressed through the club’s youth ranks before departing for Everton in 2022, also made his World Cup bow in the second half.
