Harkness Expecting A Different Challenge

JACK Harkness is expecting another different challenge as Rangers prepare to host Tranent Juniors in the Lowland League this weekend.

The Light Blues welcome the side currently sitting fourth in the table in an eagerly anticipated clash at Dumbarton Stadium after the two teams played out a 2-2 draw in their last clash back in November.

Speaking to RangersTV in the build up, the right-back is expecting another tough test and a similar one to when the sides last met.

He said: “I hope we will be facing a similar sort of challenge, the environment that we played them in the last time at Tranent’s ground was good.

“It is something that we look forward to playing in, so if we can get that at the weekend as well then it would be good.

“The way they gave us a challenge was different from other teams and we hope they bring the same game at the weekend.”

The defender says the clash is one the team have been looking forward to for a while and the squad knows how big the game is.

He continued: “Tranent gave us a hard game the last time we played them.

“It finished 2-2 so it is one we have been looking forward to for a while and we know the importance of it.”

Harkness believes this weekend’s test of facing the East Lothian side is hugely important in terms of their development both collectively and individually moving forward.

He added: “It is big to test yourself, you don’t get it every week, you get different challenges.

“Tranent are one of the stronger teams we have played in this league so we hope that they will give us a challenge.

“I hope that we just play our own game and try beat them off the ball.”

The 19-year-old has assessed the season so far and has praised the sides performance levels overall, as they look to make their impressive home record count when the teams face off this Saturday.

He said: “It has been brilliant, we started off really well then we had that little dip in form before Christmas.

“I feel like we have come over that, we have worked well at the training ground and now we are back to being ourselves.

“You always have that slight advantage at home because you have got your own fans, we just focus on ourselves we don’t really look at where we are playing.”
