James Penrice: It's All I Ever Wanted

JAMES PENRICE says returning to Scotland and joining Rangers has been phenomenal for him, as the left-back looks ahead to another Old Firm clash this weekend.

The 27-year-old was speaking at the launch of Rangers Charity Foundation’s partnership with Down’s Syndrome Scotland, as he reflected on his start to life at the club.

Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I have absolutely loved it. I have spoken about it in every interview, saying it was all I ever wanted, and the last few months have been brilliant.

“For my family, for me, getting to be back home has been phenomenal, and it helps when you are part of a winning Rangers side, so for me it has been right up there the last couple of months.

On Sunday’s Old Firm victory, a first experience of the fixture for Penrice, he added: “It was a great game to play in. I thought the boys were excellent; we dominated throughout the match, and you saw the scenes after the game; the fans were loud and proud.

“The last two home games before that were strong, but we hadn’t really taken our chances. On Sunday I thought the boys were excellent all over the pitch. To a man, we were brilliant, so it was a real memorable one, and hopefully it continues.”

With the teams set to meet again this weekend in the first Scottish Premiership Old Firm of the season, Penrice insists the squad will head to Celtic Park with confidence.

He added: “If you look back at the game at the weekend, we’ll change things; they’ll probably change things, so it will be a different game.

“At the same time, we will go there with confidence and at the end of the day it is the strongest 11 so I don’t see why we can’t go there and win.”
