JO POTTER says she is ‘proud’ of her Rangers side for delivering successive cup doubles.
The Light Blues responded to the disappointment of missing out on the SWPL title last weekend by getting their hands on the Scottish Cup once again with a convincing win at Hampden Park.
Speaking to RangersTV at the National Stadium after the 3-0 triumph over Glasgow City, she commented: “I am super proud, for the players to come out and perform to that level, after the disappointment of last week to really show up, to really front up and deliver a game plan like that it is all credit to them.
“We put them in a position to be able to bring their best selves out and they managed to do it. I am super proud of the group today and I am really happy to get another trophy in the cabinet.
“There was a lot of pressure again. We keep coming up against these pressure moments but that is what it means playing for Rangers and being at this football club.
“There is no other club that feels the pressure the way that we do. I think to be able to take four trophies in two years is a huge credit to this group.
“To be the only team that has been that close to a treble twice in a row is massive.
“We have got to remember that, we have got to remember the positions that we have got ourselves in.
“It is not a nice feeling not having the trophy that we wanted on top of that, but we have got to use that and we have got to use these moments that we are used to winning trophies.
“We want to win more and it is something that just pushes on to go again and keep trying to get that trophy.”
There were some fantastic individual displays among the Rangers ranks on the day. Mia McAulay opened the scoring and Kirsty Howat bagged a brace in a fantastic showing all round, with the boss praising everyone involved as the team were able to give the departing Jane Ross the perfect send off ahead of her retirement.
She continued: “All over the park, keeping a clean sheet was huge. We said that before the game, keep a clean sheet keep us in the game, we have got to do our work.
“Everything that we didn't do well last time against City we did extremely well today. We got the press right; we go the in-possession work right. We tweaked a few things to how we were going to play against them to how we were going to hurt them in certain areas.
“Players took that on board and did it really well. When the players turn up and turn up individually and more than not all of them turn up then we normally end up on top.
“It is just the consistency of those performances and turning up when we needed to and they definitely did it today and they deserve all the plaudits for it.
“Jane Ross? That was one of our main motivators before the game. I said if we need an extra 10 per cent it is for that girl there.
“Let's finish this season on a real high for her lifting a trophy instead of the feeling of last week.
“The players put in a performance and so did she when she when she came on it was definitely worthy of that. That one was for her and definitely one for her to remember hopefully.”
The former Lioness wants the team to use today as a further motivator to continue delivering more silverware in the next campaign, insisting the squad are hungry to win more.
She added: “Winning more? We have too, it is what we expect of ourselves, it is what is expected of us.
“We want to win trophies as much as possible every single competition that we are we want to win it. We have showed the hunger and we showed the desire.
“We fell short at a few points but we have got to make sure that we are learning from these moments and those opportunities.
“I think we showed learning today from last week and we used it because if we didn't win today it would have been the polar opposite feeling to what we are feeling now.
“It has left us in a better position than what we were in last week.
“We have got two trophies in the bank this season and we are hungry for more.”
