Jo Potter: We Are In Good Place To Keep Improving

JO POTTER wants her squad to kick on as they prepare to make their return to domestic action this weekend.

The Light Blues season has been brought to a pause over the current international break where they currently remain unbeaten in the SWPL with eight wins and three draws from their opening 11 matches.

Speaking to the official Rangers website the head coach says the team can learn a lot from their recent outings as they look to return to winning ways when they welcome Montrose to Broadwood this Sunday.

She commented: “We try to learn each game that we do play.

“I thought we performed so much better on the whole under tough conditions against Hibs in that last game.

“The character that we are showing in these fixtures is huge for us.

“We have got to make sure we are remembering those moments and learning from other moments that we can do slightly better in and kicking on because you can see where this group can be.

“They know where they can be, they feel it as well and they are eager to do better and get better results.

“We are in a really good place so I think it is important that we do remember that and we stick to our guns and keep pushing.”

The former Lioness has also provided a fresh injury update on her squad and she says the current break has given several of her players on the sideline the chance to take a step closer to a return to action.

She added: “It is important that we have had this time to be able to give Kirsty [Maclean] some important training moments as well because she was kind of back in and getting her back in as quick as possible with limited numbers that we have in the middle of the park at the moment.

“It was important that we got her in and I think this week is going to be really good for her to just get back into good training habits and routines and building those relationships back up with players which is potentially new players to play around like Camille and Charlie.

“It is really important for those messages to be given.

“Chelsea has started running which is brilliant news.

“Knowing Chelsea she is on her way back and will be back as soon as she can because she has got a great mentality.

“She has the ability to heal very quickly, we have seen that previously. The mindset to be in and among the group is great for her, we are hoping that she can be back as soon as possible.

“There is not really a timeline on that right now, it will be down to consultants and ticking off certain movements and patterns so she is edging closer but she is back on the grass running which is a real step in the right direction for her.

“Sarah is kicking on nicely, she has come to a point now where she is really progressing, she has got her boots on, she has been running for a few weeks now.

“Ball work is happening and she is moving really well I caught up with her and she is feeling really good.

“She is in a good head space to push forward and we will hopefully see them both back on the pitch very soon.”
