John Brown Wants Rangers To End Season On A High

JOHN ‘Bomber’ Brown wants Rangers to round off the season on a high ahead of their Scottish Cup derby showdown tomorrow afternoon.

Rangers take on rivals Celtic with the opportunity to claim a domestic cup double in the final fixture of the season at the national stadium.

Speaking to the official Gers website ahead of the clash, the club legend spoke of what a win at Hampden could do for the momentum of the side for what lies ahead.

He commented: “It is the last game and it is probably one of the biggest games of the season.

“You are finishing off the season, we have got a trophy under our belt with the League Cup and the chance to win a Scottish Cup and pick up trophies.

“I think it is massive for the players and playing against your biggest rival and it is fresh in the memory of the recent result against them so I think the players will be looking forward to it.

“It is a massive game, cup final and with everything at stake.

“It is fresh in the memory and I just look back at certain Celtic games that we had in our day.

“Celtic came to Ibrox and beat us 2-0 but we had 10 days until we played them in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup and we beat them with 10 men.

“These memories and it is fresh in the players' heads the recent result at Celtic Park and I think the players will be relishing the chance to get back at Celtic.”

The former Ger spoke of the impact manager Philippe Clement has had on the side and praised the performances and opportunities the young players have had during his stint in charge thus far.

He continued: “The manager has come in he has got a reaction out of the players.

“We won that European game over at Betis in Seville and that was one the best performances I have seen from the team.

“He has taken it the distance, when he first comes in and when Micheal Beale left I don't think a Rangers fan would ever have thought we would have any chance of the league and we took it nearly right to the last weekend.

“Last weekend he gave the left-back Robbie Fraser a chance, but Ross [McCausland] got an early shout when the manager came in because he has obviously realised the energy levels and what he brings to the team.

“He merited his position and he had him in for a period and obviously a young player you tire and he took him out of that line to just keep him fresh and he has come back into it and he is looking one of our best players.”
