Jon McLaughlin: We Want More

AFTER claiming a new Scottish clean sheet record of 25 from a single season, and a club record of 99 top flight points, the message from goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin is clear – we want more!

Champions Rangers face one more game on Saturday with Aberdeen the visitors to Ibrox before the handover of the Scottish Premiership trophy – and that offers further opportunity for more records to be broken.

McLaughlin, who has kept nine of those clean sheets this season, told RangersTV: "We want every three points we can get in this run to the end of the season. We are still pushing hard and we still want that 100 point barrier broken.

"There are still records we are going for and the lads have got that personal pride that we want to keep working hard every game and see this run-in, in properly.

"Livingston still gave us a really good run for it, especially in the second half - they made sure we had to really dig in and they had some great chances and could have got a couple of goals themselves tonight, and I'm sure they're a little bit disappointed with that.

"But we worked hard. There were changes again which had to be made and the lads who came in did a great job in different positions, so we were really happy to come here, and in the end, we absorbed well and really hit them on the break with some great goals going forward.

"So we are very happy in the end."

McLaughlin was behind 17 year-old Leon King as he made his league debut tonight, and he spoke through his role in welcoming a young player into the thick of the action.

He said: "When it happens like that, at that stage of the game, you have just got to try and make him feel as comfortable as possible quickly, get him into the game, and for him, it was, I'm sure, great to get out there and just do that job for the last 10-15 minutes.

"But as a goalkeeper, and for the senior lads, it is great to see the young boys coming through and getting their chance and being able to bed them in and I am sure it is great experience for them at this stage going forward into future seasons."

And, looking ahead to Saturday and what is set to be a milestone day in Rangers 150-year history, McLaughlin added: "We need to get the 90 minutes out of the way first and we will have to put in another professional performance.

"I am sure the boys will be up for that - we have got the result we needed tonight at a tough away game so it will be great to finish it off in style at Ibrox, and of course, everyone is then looking forward to what comes after that.

"So we will get the game boxed off first and it will be bi celebrations for everyone involved in the club when we lift that trophy."
