Kathryn Hill Delighted To Lift Silverware Once Again

KATHRYN HILL was delighted to get her hands on silverware once again for Rangers on Sunday as she challenged her side to replicate their cup consistency in the SWPL next season.

The 30-year-old marshalled the Gers backline to a clean sheet as they ran out convincing 3-0 winners over Glasgow City in the Scottish Cup final.

Hill has triumphed twice in the competition since returning to the club in 2022 and says her eyes are set firmly on lifting the league championship next campaign after disappointment in this season's finale.

Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the triumph, she commented: "We've been in six cup finals since I came to the club.

"Perhaps it's that experience of knowing what these days are all about; the media, the occasion and the stadium.

"I can only speak for myself, but [the league is] the one trophy that you want to win at the start of every season.

"As players, we'll go away and reflect. It's quite obvious that we weren't good enough in the league, both individually and collectively.

"We need to use days like last week to motivate ourselves and push on next year.

"We knew the importance of going into the game and getting our hands on another trophy.

"It's the double two years in a row now. I was saying to Jo that we need to find a way next season to get our hands on the league trophy."

It was only seven days prior that Rangers missed out on the opportunity to capture the SWPL title with a final-day defeat to eventual champions Hibernian.

There was always the risk that the disappointment could seep into Sunday's final at Hampden, but Hill insists the side couldn't pass up the chance to get their hands on silverware once again.

She added: "We needed to get back to being confident and playing football.

"We did it on Sunday; we knew where their weaknesses were and how we could exploit.

"And we've done that, creating so many chances and we managed to limit theirs. We looked much more confident as a team.

"We need to maintain that throughout next season because it's our consistency which has let us down.

"We spoke before the game about leaving last week to the side. But there is always that disappointment, and there still is even after winning another trophy.

"The group looked forward and we had to make sure we came into the game feeling confident that we could win."
