RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce that Kathryn Hill has signed a two-year contract extension with Jo Potter’s side.
The centre back, who began her youth career at the Gers, rejoined the Light Blues ahead of the 2022/23 season as she now commits her future to the club.
After five years with Rangers, she moved to the other side of the Atlantic to join Old Dominion University, where she spent two seasons.
The defender joined English side Durham in 2017 where she spent five years before making the return to the Gers in the summer of 2022, where she captained the club to their first-ever Sky Sports Cup success over Hibernian in December of that year, before helping them retain the trophy with a 4-1 win over Partick Thistle earlier this season.
Hill has represented Scotland at Under-19 level and her form towards the end of the last campaign saw her called up to the senior setup for the first time in April 2023.
Speaking after renewing her contract with the club, Hill commented: “I am obviously buzzing, this is where I want to be playing my football.
“I have enjoyed the last couple of years and I am looking forward to the next couple.
“I think as I was going into the end of my contract there I knew that if the club wanted to keep me then this is where I wanted to be.
“As soon as we started having those conversations it was quite an easy decision and I am just looking forward to the next couple of years.”
Women’s head coach, Jo Potter, added: “Kathy has been a mainstay for me and I am thrilled she will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
“Both on and off the park she has been a hugely influential member of the squad and an important part of the leadership group.
“It is not only her personal qualities that have seen her rewarded with a new deal, Kathy has been a hugely impressive performer on the park and not only impressed in defence, but she also scored some crucial goals for us. I am glad she is staying with the club.”
Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director, Donald Gillies, also said: “It has been incredibly important that we create continuity at the club.
“Kathy is one of the players that has carried the team so incredibly well over the last few years right now for the long-term.
“We want to be a club that is a home for these players, that they feel valued and the basis of what we are trying to create and Kathy is fundamental to future success.”
