Kemar Roofe: Only Getting Started

KEMAR ROOFE insists he’s only getting started after firing Rangers to three points against Ross County.

The striker made his first start for the club since April 2022 and set Michael Beale’s side on their way to three points with the opener in the 2-0 win in the Highlands.

Roofe got on the end of Borna Barisic’s deep corner to acrobatically fire the Gers in front on 22 minutes, before captain James Tavernier doubled the lead moments later.

Roofe admits he was exhausted when he was replaced on the hour mark, but he believes he’s only going to get better the more games he plays.

He said: “It’s always good to score and help the team get three points and it was so important.

“I was tired at the end as it was my first 60 minutes for a long time. To win and to get a goal I couldn’t ask for anymore.

“Hopefully I will get stronger and better the more games I play. That is natural and I am looking forward to that.”

Beale’s side dominated the first half and deservedly took the lead through the Jamaican international.

Skipper Tavernier then broke forward and brilliantly fired his shot into the top corner to secure the win.

Roofe was delighted with the win and some of the passages of play, but admits they could have scored more goals.

He added: “It was a typical away performance and we had to dig deep. We got the two goals and that settled the nerves a little bit.

“When you do that it helps settle things down as well and you start working on your patterns of play.

“We didn’t score any more goals, but it is a positive that we were creating chances, but we have to take them and we will keep working on that.

“We had to dig in and get the result and we did.”
